I'm making a web series!

Hey Folks,

A few months back I sat down at my favorite pizza place, then my favorite cafe. I spent about 20 hours between the two places adn when I got up to go home that day I had a 8 episode web series.

I just re-read it, and I'm excited to move forward on making it a reality. I've done a first revision, and am looking for a writer to bring on the completely write the 7th episode. But beyond that, it's ready to go.

I've already started casting and so far my cast is amazing. Without dropping names (yet) I've got:
1) Guy who's appeared on several episodes of Community
2) Guy who's appeared on Reno 911, several commercials, and appearances on HBO, Comedy Central, SpikeTV - and is on a house team at UCB thearter
3) Guy who was on Tim and Eric Awesome Show Great Job, 20th most watched live streamer on stickam, and 15,000 subs on youtube (oh right that's me)

and last but not least
4) a Guy who was on comedy central presents, Jimmy Kimmel, scare tactics, comedy gumbo and more!

I'm psyched

Mostly Blogging

Hey Folks,

Mostly I'm sitting here killing time. But Mostly I'm trying to pretend I can be creative on the fly.

I have a show tonight, my group Donut Video is going to be on the UCB stage for a whopping 10 minutes. It's pretty intense I know. How on earth could well possibly fill ten whole minutes with improv!?

Well don't fear - we're ready. We ran like a hundred ten minute drills last night, and at least half of them were funny. So we've got this, mostly.

I should have pictures - to distract you from the fact that I'm Mostly not talking about anything.

There, I find Mostly no need to explain this picture. Though I do tend to find it creepy. Because of this.

Anyway, so I've killed all the time I think is possible, Mostly.
And I guess I should start thinking about getting ready for my show tonight. I need to try to do something to get my voice back, it's really scratchy from coughing and that's no good, mostly.

Sentimental Robin

Hey Folks,

So if you were following my twitter you know the other night brought a surprise guest as Robin Williams joined the stage at Upright Citizens brigade with one of my favorite improv teams, Sentimental lady.

My friend Reyana grabbed a few shots on her cell phone.

Here they are in the classic improv scenario, people watchers watching people watching, watchin people.

Mr. Williams in rare form as Alex Fernie (gray shirt) wonders if maybe he's left the stove on at home.

And finally no improv show would be complete without a recreation of the Last Supper.

I Can't Wait to See Naked Babies! wait, what?

Since I've been taking classes at UCB there's been a few teams that are legend. few teams that I've never had the chance to see and it's weighed on my comedic soul.

The Swarm, Power Walkers

Naked Babies - John Ross Bowie, Rob Corddry, Brian Huskey and Seth Morris
There's a good chance you've seen one if not all four in something or other.

LA locals make recognize Bowie as 'Breakfast' from the Jack in the Box Commercials as well as a some other minor thing like some show called Heroes and some movie called 'What the Bleep do we know'?
*Bowie was also my 301 Improv teacher and in that one of my 3 favorite teachers therein

Rob Corddry the baby face of the bunch capped off his career appearing in this video from Ben Swartz (who basically controls all of Hollywood now that Aaron Spelling is out of the picture). This video earned him a modest net of 7 figures and 3 striper wives.

Pretty much the star of 'I Love You Man' Seth Morris, who plays
Barry's Buddy #2 is the real juggernaught of the quartet, as well as being the tallest man on earth. You can find a wax figure of him in the Guiness book museum and Ripley's believe it or not down on Hollywood blvd (and there's a discount package if you throw in the wax museum!)

And last but not least is the n00b Brian Huskey the "Monster in a wheelchair". His bark is worse then his bite though, and you just may have seen him in one of these (I assume these are all web shows) - VH1's Best Week Ever, Late Night with Conan O'Brien, The Daily Show with Jon Stewart, the Upright Citizens Brigade

* I am serious, if you're taking improv at UCB and you get the chance to have Bowie as a teacher I highly recommend.

Youtube Gathering 2009 San Fransisco

I was fully intending on going to the San Fran youtube gathering.
Then a little over a month ago I enrolled in a sketch class and I brought my intentions down to about 75%

At first I simply didn't want to skip out of one of the 8 classes I'd paid money for.
Then I realized this Thursday we have a class show and then Saturday we have another class.

So I'm officially not going to the San Fransisco youtube Gathering this year.

As it is, some other youtubers are coming to LA, so I guess we'll be having a mini gathering of our own.

If you're in LA feel free to come to my class show Thursday.
I'll be in a few different sketches, as well as having one of my sketches performed.

Ah, Life

Yesterday was filled with awesome douchbaggery and then made better hanging with real friends watching improv and then drinking. Yay drinking.

Today I was looking forward to rehearsal of my new sketch. However my actress just booked a paying gig that's taking her away to Europe instead. So I'm scrambling to find a new actress, reschedule rehearsals and still get the sketch up at UCB Friday.

In the mean time it looks like I've picked up another sketch to direct and shoot for my new addition to my writing group, Renie. (she has some shiny shiny pants - how could I say 'no'?)
So I have to work that in to my schedule before the 9th (when she leaves town as well)

Plus I just rescheduled my documentary soot to tomorrow.

Looks like the word of the day is 'Reschedule' or 'Suck it'

Oh yea new video is currently being edited, I'll probably get it up tomorrow morning since I don't have practice tonight.

Long Ass Day

God what a day.

• Put up a new video, just a quick vlog about the youtube gathering in Hollywood Saturday (see below).

• Shot two tapes of footage for the documentary I'm producing. More on that later. Shooting again Friday!

• Got home, ate, and then rushed off to Digg Nation live at the knitting factory
• Met lots of people (thanks to Web Photog Extraordinaire Wm. Marc Salsberry) including This girl & Lala from Tiki.

• Walked from knitting factory to UCB (and I've been exhausted since) - crossed paths twice with a girl with green hair. If I believe in fate I would have thought I should say something, but whatever.

• Watched an awesome show with the Return of Ben Schwartz to Kadammit (they won, again) and then walked home, blogged and off to bed.

Tomorrow - do less.

oh yea here's the video:

Writers Group

Last Sunday I finally met with my newly formed writers group.

We sat around pitched ideas for holiday inspired sketches. There were about half a dozen of us, and we each left with an idea to work on for this coming Sunday. So something big is brewing at for the SamProof channel. It's just got 600% more funnier.

or something. there's math involved I swear!

What, math is funny!

We don't have an official name yet, but we don't have a first video or even sketch script yet so no worries. but the group itself is made up of all Upright Citizens Brigade Alumni - so you know it's gonna be good.

Don't Be a Stranger

Just a quick plug,

I don't tend to talk about shows I'm going to.
However tomorrow at UCB theater Los Angeles one of my favorite Musical performers is going to be playing live at UCB's Midnight Show.

Tim Kasher

Kasher is known for 'The Good Life' with Connor of Bright Eyes, and then went on to form the amazing band 'Cursive'.

The show is only 5 bucks, so head over and make your reservations quick!

In the mean time, this is one of my favorite videos featuring Kasher playing guitar acoustically on a rooftop.
